        4 units (to include: Human Geography (one year), Modern World Civilizations (one year), US History (one year), Government (one semester) and Economics (one semester); where listed, AP classes may be taken instead of the core class for that particular year.)
        Foreign  Language

        3 units in the same language

        Religious  Studies

        1 unit

        Fine Arts

        2 units

        Physical  Education

        1.5 units (see Athletic Participation Policy)

        Community Service Requirements

        Upper School Requirements
        12 hours of community service for each year of Upper School enrollment.
        NHS members have a 24-hour community service requirement with 12 hours required in the fall semester and 12 hours required in the spring semester.

        Middle School Requirements
        6th grade = 8 hours of community service
        7th grades = 9 hours of community service
        8th grade = 10 hours of community service
        NJHS members have a 16-hour requirement with 8 hours to be completed in the fall and 8 hours in the spring. New members have a 12-hour service requirement for their first year. ​

        For service trips, mission trips and retreats, students will be credited with a maximum of 8 hours community service per day. Upper School students who do not participate in the annual TMI Green Day event will incur an additional six-hour obligation of community service.

        Exemptions From Graduation Requirements

        Students transferring into TMI as a second-term junior or as a senior who cannot schedule the required TMI units prior to graduation will be evaluated for academic alternatives.
